Following in the success of the first two shows, HK Live! continues on April Fool’s Day with an amazing line-up of Hong Kong talent and guest performances by two of the most talked about new Asian-American singers from the US.
The hard-rocking Qiu Hong are the headliners. They shot to global acclaim when they won the World Champion title in the World Battle of the Bands in 2005, with an astounding live act and a set-list of epic songs. Watch out for lead singer Jan Lo who has a habit of singing with a megaphone and bringing Hong Kong politics into the explosive mix. Qiu Hong are being billed as THE name to look out for in 2006.
Elf Fatima will also grace the stage, delivering dark post-rock with psychedelic influences. The legendary Hong Kong band are fronted by the female singer and guitarist “Elf”. They originally shot to critical acclaim in 2004 with a slot supporting the British act Mogwai.
They will be joined by The Darlings - a three-piece who play a high energy set of raw rock’n’roll. With their debut album due out in May, these guys are one of the most talked-about new bands on the scene.
MC Gold Mountain will be helming the show once more, and he will be introducing some truly cutting-edge names from the US music scene in the form of Vudoo Soul and Kevin So. As the Boston Globe writes: "Kevin So is beginning to do for young Americans what Bob Dylan did for the ’60s generation. Carving his songs from sweet r&b, hot rock, hip-hop, and folk-pop, he presents his life and times in brash strokes of insight, wit, and empathy." (www.kevinso.com). Vudoo Soul is an equally staggering new artist, who delivers fresh R’n’B (www.vudoosoul.com). This makes part of their debut tour in Asia.

These shows should not be seen as ‘auditions’. They are events in
themselves and a great opportunity to do a fun show.
Each band will have a max slot of 30 mins and 15 mins change over between
each act. Besides that pretty much anything goes.
